A Journey to Mnemonic Ruins
A Journey to Mnemonic Ruins is an interactive projection installation that reconstructs my visit to the Tikal Mayan ruins in Guatemala. The work integrates a physical rock-detection system with a five-minute series of memory-based animations, allowing audiences to activate narrative sequences by stacking stones. Through the interplay of tactile action and virtual imagery, the installation examines the relationship between humans, nature, and ancient ruins. By presenting digital remnants that respond to audience presence, the piece evokes reflective nostalgia and invites viewers to consider how personal memory and cultural heritage overlap, erode, and resurface over time.
